Heat pump water heater: up to 75% savings on hot water

Why a heat pump water heater?

A thermodynamic water heater extracts free heat from the air to produce your hot water at a fraction of the cost of an electric boiler.

Up to 75% savings

Uses ambient or outside air as its main energy source — around €350/yr versus ~€1,180 for a classic electric water heater.

6% VAT, no fossil fuel

A non-fossil solution keeps the reduced 6% VAT (home older than 10 years) — versus 21% for a tank connected to a fossil-fuel boiler.

Eco-friendly and quiet

Natural R290 refrigerant with a tiny carbon footprint, top A+ energy class, whisper-quiet at 47 dB(A). Up to 5-year warranty.

Energy premiums

Eligible for regional energy premiums in Brussels and Flanders; the amount varies with your income.

Connected — app and solar

Control and monitor it from your smartphone, and connect it to your solar panels to heat your water with your own free solar energy.

Easy to install

Runs on ambient air or ducted to the outside, in renovation or new build, in a house or an apartment.

How does a heat pump water heater work?

It moves free heat from the air into your water tank — like a fridge in reverse.

Captures air heat

A fan draws in ambient or outside air; the natural R290 refrigerant absorbs its free heat, even at low temperatures.

Compresses it

The compressor raises the refrigerant temperature and concentrates the captured heat.

Heats your water

A heat exchanger transfers this heat to the water in the tank, up to 62°C.

3–4× more efficient

For 1 kWh of electricity it delivers about 3 to 4 kWh of heat. An electric backup element covers peak demand.

Frequently asked questions

How much do you save with a heat pump water heater?

Up to 75% on hot water production: about €350/yr versus ~€1,180 for an electric boiler.

Which capacity for my household?

200 L for 1–3 people, 240 L for 3–4, 270 L for 4–5. We size it to your actual consumption.

Does it work in winter?

Yes — it operates from -5°C to 43°C, with an electric backup element for peak demand.

Ambient air or ducted?

In a large enough unheated room it runs on ambient air; otherwise it is ducted to the outside. We check this during the site visit.

Is it really 6% VAT?

Yes — a heat pump water heater is a non-fossil solution: 6% VAT for homes older than 10 years, as opposed to 21% for a tank connected to a fossil-fuel boiler.

Am I eligible for a premium?

Yes — a heat pump water heater qualifies for premiums in Flanders (Mijn VerbouwPremie) and Wallonia (Primes Habitation), with the amount depending on your income. In Brussels, the Renolution premium is currently in a transition phase, so we check together what applies to your situation.

Is it noisy?

No: around 47 dB(A), comparable to a fridge. The R290 refrigerant is natural and eco-friendly.

Can it be installed in an apartment?

Yes — ducted to the outside or on ambient air depending on the setup. Ideal to replace an electric boiler.
